The 27406-26 was used in the tillotson carb also against the choke shaft indent if that helps in any way ? I have one contact me. The 27349-11 was also used on Linkert carbs for the low speed needle upper lock spring also if that helps. Don't have one.

Check that part # if you are using them together because that spring is very big and wont work with the 27406-26 ball it is very small ???

The 65 would have a Linkert DC 12 carb with rthe round air cleaner. The spring and ball are available NOS from these guys. As are many other parts.

A little side note from this conversation. It is my opinion that a 65 Sportster could have run a DC 12 or a DC 6. I base this on a small sampling of OP65 Sportsters and the following:
First, Anti Splash Plate (see first picture), every DC 6 I have seen has the plate as do all the DC 7s I have seen. I have not seen them in all DC 12s.

Second, The DC 12 and DC 6 carbs don't show up in the service manuals until 65. They don't show up in the 64 Service Manual. See pictures and revision dates.

The truth is there is virtually no difference between the DC's all through the range with the exception of the -2. My DC-1L is virtually the same as my DC-12 apart from the shield and the main jet.
In the end, it's just a stamped number.
The real "tweak" for these carbs is to install a Duper B with an Accelo bpwl.

The ball and spring choke stop setup on the DC carburators is a hateful thing. When you try to assemble it, the spring inevitably shoots the ball across the room, where it hits the floor and rolls under the largest, heaviest thing in your shop. That is, of course, if you're lucky enough to see where it went. The flat rate book gives 2.01 hours for this job - 2 hours of crawling around on your hands and knees looking for the ball, and 15 seconds to assemble when you finally get the hang of it.

The ball is just a ball bearing. Now that you know the correct size (by purchasing from Linkert Carbs), take the ball to your local hardware store and buy a dozen of them. A few dollars worth of ball bearings will save a lot of wear and tear on your knees!
