I've wondered if this pipe I have might not be the -62 vs the 62b that is 1.75" the last picture shows it next to a gasbox repop -62b. Anybody here know? The diameter of the pipe is the same smaller tube as the interconnected dual setups but this one isn't long enough to fit the early long dual setups.

Here are a couple more pictures of that pipe. If it is in fact an early independent staggered dual rear pipe, does anyone have a picture of the matching front header pipe? Also sorry the pictures look odd when I posted. I had to compress them to make the files small enough. If you click on then they seem to open fine.

Considering the three different Dash 62 rear pipes.

For the moment, let’s disregard the dash 62a.

That leaves us with the – 62 and the – 62B. There may be manufacturing differences that are only listed on the blueprints that I cannot access. that said the difference between the – 62 and a Dash 62B is the very first dent coming down from the exhaust port. The Dash 62B has a deeper dent and maybe slightly lower down on the pipe, this change happens sometime around this whole 1967 model update. It is quite common to see the early pipe (62) showing tooling marks on the 2 inch long straight section just below the connection to the exhaust port. These tooling marks are basically nonexistent in on the dash 62B pipes.

The conclusion is the 62 and the 62B pipes are nearly identical except the deeper dent helped clear the oil tank front mount on the electric start long frame bikes.

I will post a picture of the rare – 62a pipe in my next post.

1st two pics are official h-d.
third is pre production 67 ch for cycle magizine road test.

notice the length of gator extension on front forks for the "official" pics. that smacks of a preproduction 68 front fork legs.

Is anyone able to help me identify what this rear header pipe on the right is?
