Just saw this on ebay: 1957 Sportster Project.

It is not mine. I am doing a similar restoration. There are many incorrect parts, but this looks like a good restoration candidate.

It's located in Berwyn, IL.

I just sold my 57 for $4500 ... running full bottom and top rebuild. Not terribly original. Basicallly, yes this guy is smoking crack.

If the guy does come down to earth with his asking price at some point and you are interested in making a deal with him I may be able to help. I live about 30 miles away and have a 57 myself so I am pretty familiar with what is original. If you needed someone to go check it out, VIN, belly numbers, cracked cases etc. or even to pick it up until you can make arrangements let me know.

Just took a look at the 57 in Berwyn. I was there picking up an eBay win and took a quick look at it. The sellers name is Mike, really nice guy. The front end looked OEM minus the boots, the front wheel and fork tubes a tad on the rusty side. Rear wheel not stock, exhaust not stock, cases do not match, cracked and repaired sprocket cover, no seat plungers but has the OEM solo seat bracket (no hardware). Mike has all the tins freshly painted black and red including coil / toolbox cover. If anyone really is interested let me know, like I says, the guys pretty cool and will answer any question asked.
