Front brake pivot stud

Does anyone know if the front brake shoe pivot stud 44156-64 can be used in place of the earlier version 44156-54? Here's pics of both. The 64 version looks to be a tad longer.

Makes sense. !964 is first year of the wide front brake, where the spokes are laced to the edge of the brake drum on both sides. Before that the brake drum is just half the hub, and the spokes go all the way down to the hub on the left side of the bike.
