XLR / KR Frame

Hi all,
I'm new to the board and trying to get my head around what's correct on a 1960 XLR build.
When it comes to the frame, I've read a lot about the correct frame being a KR, '57R' number casting etc. But does anybody know whether these early frames (up to 1960) were leftover KR racing frames (with non-matching cast Date codes) or were freshly cast for the job?
Thanks, J

Until 1970 and the mass assembly of 200 Iron XRs all the competition bikes were assembled in the race department.
There was a "Bill of Materials" associated with each model and those parts would be requested from P&A.
P&A kept relevent quantities of all parts.
I can't imagine the person picking the parts looking at the frames and picking the earliest date coded frames.
The XLRTT was only built with the "heavy" "R" frame.

Strange frame
Looks like it has the side stand mount?
Missing the "R" right side footpeg mount?
60 XLRTT gets:
26 tooth C?S drive gear
the following parts upgraded to aluminum:
fork tube caps
footrests
rear fender
fender struts
oil tank brackets
number plates
1961 gets aluminum rims (optional)

Thank you both for the information and pictures. This is exactly the sort of information I was hoping for!

Jerry nice frame collection, this frame looks just like the ones in Factory Photos I have. With neck like 52K. Not dropped as in 56K.

The right rear footpeg bracket is on the frame in the pictures.

Could not see it.
Did someone ad a side stand mount on the left?

Hi Jerry. Nice frame.
Does the frame have the build date stamped into right side of the seat T mount.

Hi All,
The first frame I posted images of is from an eBay auction a number of years back, I wish I had bid on it. The following pictures are of a 57R frame with an F3 date code that I did acquire and sold to a friend who is building a racer.
Have a great night,
Jerry
