My stock 19" K rim does look like yours from that angle.

Damn, I am not finding the spokes I need for the rear wheel of my 53K...I see the recommendation for 20 X8.5" and 20 x 7.5" but where can I find them in SS? Unless I missed it, Buchanan's does not appear to sell them in sets or individual sizes like that.

Also, what are the diameter and tip angle specs? Any help is appreciated....

Contact Kenny Buchanan. He can custom make any spoke if it's not listed. Erik K

I noticed a set of spokes and nipples on eBay that just finished, unsold. They were 43027-53 - not sure if these are rear? Looked to be in nice condition, though OEM not stainless.

eBay item number:301990635449, seller: rustyoldiron.

Hope this helps.

Well, I laced my first wheel...it was actually pretty easy and only took me one hour and 1 1/2 beers to do it.

Well, the rear wheel is proving to be a pain in the glutes. I have a manual which says 7.5" and 8.5" spokes are required for my original 9" rim. However, Buchanans sent me 8" and 8.5" spokes. I told them it was different than my manual says and they stated convincingly that they were right, not the manual. Well, now I have too much length on some of the spokes but when I contacted Buchanan they said I laced it wrong. Th e problem is I have the original parts manual and it shows it being correct the way I laced them.

Can one of you experts, Hennesy or others, take a look at the pics and see if I am missing something?

Every 4th spoke does this...it is the "over the top Laces on the larger hub (sprocket side)

I appreciate any help...

Mayday,

I sent samples of my 54 KH spokes to Buchanan to match. I haven't spoked my wheels yet, but very soon...

Here's from the 1959-1969 Sportster Service Manual. The offsets shown in "Aligning of Wheel with Straight Edge" may be different. Unfortunately, they didn't make a service manual for the Ks.

It appears that you have the same manual as I do. It worked fine for the front rim, but it is proving difficult for the rear rim of my 1953 Kmodel

Since spokes are webbed in a symmetrical manner, it's more than odd that only one of them of the same length would be showing more at the nipple. Suggests the whole rim is not aligned proper to the hub...
