I believe the outer fin head polishing was reserved for KHK only. Not KH. Above it says gear cases. Not heads. The note in the history states KHK heads were polished inside and outer fin. Erik K

You are correct on the 1954 flier, but the 1955 flier says "Mirror-Polished KH Heads". Not say-in what's right or wrong, just what the flier states.

OK I never saw that. Which flier are you speaking of?

On page one of this topic the last post by Starcain has copies of both a 1954 and a 1955 flier.

OK. I see that. I have seen other statements about mirror polished ports and heads showing the combustion chambers but not showing the outside or mentioning outside fin polished like in the new model announcement for KHKs. Not saying anything for sure :D just wanted to figure this out. Any original 55 56 57 KH owners out there?

The first mention of outside fins being polished specifically that I've seen is in the 55 KHK new model announcement Enthusiast. From everything I've read. Like the KHK oil tank badge I think it was a special touch for the KHK.
