Champion Yellow

Does anyone know of a close match for champion yellow for the flash on my 56 tank? I contacted John Pierce, but he only does base coat clear coat, and I want single stage.

Years ago Lon from Antique Cycle and I got with a paint guy and figured that 1975 Corvette Bright Yellow code #56 was as close as anything available modern. 56 KHK Was available in Centauri single stage which I really liked. I don't know if it still is. My race car color :D Bright!

I've always liked the Flash and the yellow color.

For something different, the Atomic Blue with yellow had it working.

Back in the ' 70's, the first time I saw Champion Frame's logo, the early Harley colors came to mind.

Doug Schwerma liked the KH, too ?

Dave Hansen, whom I believed was sponsored more or less by Champion, had leathers & paint-work with same. Great rider and the combo always looked stylish.

Yamaha looked pretty good with yellow and Roberts rode many Champion frames to victory.

Later, he built his own mono-shocker and the word was the things didn't slide as well as the conventional frames.

Hmmm....looks like it depended on who was riding.

Love that photo of KR lifting the front in the turn. I want to mention that the same type color but 1974 Corvette Bright Yellow is very very close to 1975 but a shade different. It was a close call choosing between them as I remember. 74 is a tad duller. Code #56-956 Be good to check them both and decide. The 1956 gas tank I have posted elsewhere has the #56 1975 paint on it. Erik K

The link below is not the first or last word on the corvette yellow #56 color, but does show that the 1974 yellow had a different paint code than the 1975-77 yellow. So, a few more paint codes and brands to explore if interested. The table the link directs you to is interactive, so you can view too many yellow cars of too many vintages.

Yes 1974 is #56-956 tad more green in it I was told by the paint guy. I don't know paint myself.

I looked at this again and I really think the 1974 type, which is a little lighter, is a closer match.
