KHK Model Tank Emblems

I have a tank which was originally on a 53 K-Model. Does anyone know if the tank is the same as the 55 KHK tank? Also, are the emblem mount screw holes on the mounting strip the same?

I see emblems on EBay (see below) but I am not sure how legit they are either.

Much appreciate some insight since I do not have two to compare...

Mayday - you can buy these at your local Harley dealer - probably for a whole lot less than Blarney is asking (I think that is true in general). The -55T is for Taiwan or Tankemblemstan, where Harley has them made now. Harley also sells the 1952-1954 emblems, but I'm pretty sure they do NOT include the 52-53 "strips", only the script part.

These are close, but not exactly like the originals - the "backgrounds" are a little different, and I think the metal is thinner than the originals. I think the screw holes will line up, but not sure - maybe someone else knows.

Thanks...I have a few weeks prior to "need" so I will keep looking for originals.

Here are the 61814-55T tank emblems from HD. Hit the link below and enter the part# in the search field at the upper right of the page to see the image below.Of course since you already have the screw mount strips on the tank you certainly don't need the tape-on adapter kit shown.

Then the only thing you might need are the 4-40 x 3/16” oval head mounting screws, which can be had from many places, e.g., McMaster-Carr who offer them in stainless, so a light dusting with a glass bead blaster and they’d look like they were right out of the cad plating tank. At the link below hit "flathead screws", then "phillips oval head screws" to see a nice hardware selection.
