Seat Spacer Dimensions

Postby wz507 » Thu Apr 26, 2018 5:53 pm

If anybody might have the following information, I would like to know the dimensions of the spacer, 52105-52, used to set the saddle off the T-frame on a ‘56 K. Also, any opinions sought regarding whether this was a parkerized or cad plated part. Thank you.

Hey wz507 I have one that came off a 69 xlch. At looking at the parts book the part numbers did not change. Although one book to 71 calls it is 5947w spacer. Anyway the one I have is 1inch tall and.950 around that's the best I can tell as it is on the bike and it is cad

Dave posted it awhile back: "The 52105-52 is .875 diameter and .550 tall". The V-twin one is .870 diam. and .560" tall. It is chromed but the chrome is very cheap and can be easily removed with a diluted solution of muriatic acid. The 57 XL at the Harley Museum has a spacer with a cad finish and it looks to be cad in the factory photo of the 56 KH that is on this website.

Probably thirty years ago I purchased 5 of these spacers NOS out of an old dealer inventory; I have one left in my personal
parts stash. It measures 0.875 diameter and 0.562 tall. It has a very small chamfer (1/64"+/-) at each end of the center
bolt hole and a chamfer (1/32"+/-) at each end on the O/D. None of these NOS ones had any kind of finish, just the natural
steel surface. I have a complete vinyl solo seat with T-bar still attached and this spacer also has no finish, just a light patina
of surface rust it has picked up over the years. Also picked up several used ones over the years that I passed on to people
for their own projects and none of these ever had any trace of a finish on them. I have an 8x10 photo of a new '57 XL on
display at a dealer new model introduction; the spacer is visible and it doesn't have the "shiny" look to it that the cadmium
plated parts on the bike have. I know this is nitpicking but minor details like this drive me nuts. Opinions welcomed.

The Colony spacer looks pretty much spot on for the Harley one.
