56 KH

Postby wb56 » Thu Apr 25, 2019 4:21 pm

Haven't been on the site since I was looking for parts for my 56 KHK (trap door conical dowel pins) that I got from JerryR. I've been concentrating on my KHK and I found a 56 KH I wanted to share with you all. I had talked to a guy in Ohio about 4 years ago who had a 56 KH sitting in his garage that he wanted to sell. We couldn't agree on a price so we both moved on. I was very disappointed that we didn't make a deal. BUT, about a month ago, he calls me out of the blue and said some things had changed in his life and he was very interested in selling the bike to me for a price that would satisfy us both. I wasn't about to let the bike get away from me again so I bought it. It does need work, doesn't run but kicks over freely.

I think the guy that built the bike was building a replica of a street version KRM? Not sure. It does have a KRTT front hub with a really nice air duct. I was wondering what you all out there thought I should do with the bike. Redo it as it sits, change stuff? Thanks for any input.

Get it going as it is. Too much too far wrong to try to restore, but it looks great and makes a cool street racer!

Shouldn't take long to make it run. Fresh gas, clean carb, check timing and make sure the inside of the magneto is SPOTLESS along with clean points surfaces. New plugs. It will run.

Are those curnutt shocks? Cool scooter btw. Do we know for a fact that's a k model frame? With all the ancillaries, can't help but wonder if it's an xl with a k motor.

really nice bike ... I would also try to change as little as possible.

Did anyone realize the strange shock assembly? The shocks seem to use a bottom "cam support" at the top. Never seen that before ...

I don't know what brand or who made the shocks. Yikes Is there a way I can tell?
