I don't know, but was there a difference in the closed end counter shaft bearings? Mine says Torrington M 11171- the counter shaft pushes it out of the case .010(from flush). Thers's a gap between the inner face of the bearing and the shoulder on the counter shaft of .094. Wrong counter shaft?

Countershaft 35613-52 is same for 52 & 53. A 54 KHK stronger shaft came out with more mass, larger splined OD. Also at least 2 gears were updated. Stronger construction and larger ID to fit new shaft. The right side of the C/S Torrington Bearing is downsized .250" OD. So new bearing now, turns less distance being smaller. You can sleeve your new small bearing OD to fit bigger
hole in case. Bronze or Steel sleeve. Also need 2 New gears to fit larger ID. In 58 we do it again. More Beefy Shaft. Corresponding gears. Good set up now. These changes are listed it the Tech History. Erik K

The newer 54 and 58 etc C/S have a smaller right end and corresponding smaller bearing. The shaft will slip right in no prob. But the old 52-53 bearing is about .250" larger ID than New one. So bit sloppy. But goes right in. Actually will work. John bought a 53KK from the Owl and it seemed like it was ok. But something wrong...it had new little shaft in large old bearing. Yeah, 1/8" play up n down by dimensions.
