Rear Brake Shell (drum) Identification

Re H-D part # 41808-52
The parts book list the same number for the shell for 1952 - 1978 all models. We have seen slight differences in the drums.
Drums with 2 casting tab “lugs” on the outside have #41407-52 stamped on the inside. Some of these have a slightly raised surface where the drum bolts to the hub and others are flush. Other “lug” drums have what appears to be a small casting date on the outside.
Drums with no lugs have raised casting “MC 41407-52” on the outside surface facing the hub.
I believe all of these are OEM. Does anyone know what is appropriate for the different years – models?
Thanks in advance for your time addressing this issue.
Please note in addition to the above referenced differences, the hub with no raised casting "lugs" has the surface where the drum bolts to the hub recessed. The drums with no lugs have #41407-52 and "MAX.DIA. 8.049 imprinted on the inside.
Can some of you people with 57 XL's tell me what is on your machine ??
