Disregard my last post, the 6N6-3B won't fit (too wide).

I installed my replica battery box with the 12v battery inside of it.

I used some rubber floor liner that I found at Menards for the rubber cushion in the bottom, top, and the side of the replica battery to avoid movement, and for the bottom and top of the battery tray. I drilled the battery tab holes a little bigger so I could fit and solder the wires of the replica battery directly to the AGM battery. This will avoid disconnection while riding. See the pics.

Also note that I don't have terminals coming out of the box. That is the way I ask Chris to do it for me as I wanted to secure the wires my own way. He sent two loose terminals along with the box and they are also very nice.

Stan - how did you attach your terminals? The lead terminal with a short screw holding it on is a poor design. Here's a silly question - why are the terminals lead? I can understand it on a car battery - the battery innards are lead, so naturally the terminals would be. Our situation is totally different. It would seem to me that steel terminals would allow better attachment to the case. Heck, how about stainless steel - no rust problems.

Dave, I haven't used the replica box yet. When Chris made the boxes they turned out to be too small for a 6N6-3B battery or at least the one I got. The replica box is somewhat smaller then the sample I sent him so the inside also got smaller. I have a fair amount of the 6N6-3B batteries so not really looking for another battery right now. Still using the cored out original one that I have used for years.

On the first page of this thread is a picture of how I attached my terminals. Used hard oak wood to screw it to and ran copper wire from the battery to the terminals. Depending on what battery you use I'm sure you could do something similar. The terminals have stayed nice and secure without worry of breaking.

Why Lead? I don't know about that one.

I just purchased a battery shell from Red Raven and the internal dimensions are smaller than one I purchased 8 or 10 years ago. I may have purchased the old one from Harley Hummer.com?

Does anyone know if there are multiple manufacturers of these battery shells, and if so, who else is selling them? My old one seems to have thinner walls as well.

The new one I bought is a hair too small for the battery I want to use.

If you are careful, you can grind out the inside of the replica battery box wall to get your new battery to fit inside. WZ507 and I did this to our battery shells to get 2 - Duracell 6 volt AGM batteries to fit inside for the extra amps. I'll post pics later.
