I just acquired a 1956 KR. I found a parts manual on this site. Thank you very much. I am in search of a service manual though. Does anyone have a good source to get one? I added a picture of where I am starting from.

There wasn't one produced that I know of, at least for owners. The riders handbook for your year model has a lot of good information for general maintenance and the 1959-69 Sportster service manual is helpful for bottom end work. There's also a lot of knowledgeable folks on this website that can help you. Mark

I am looking for a good reference on the valve train. I've never worked on one of these flat head motors before. Torque setting and such would also be good for re-assembly. Right now the bike kicks over fine, but with no compression. My guess is that valves are stuck open.

BTW....

Something has changed, or taken a knee.

"""" Patrick Delli provided this brochure. His web site, Harley kr xlrtt has a wealth of information on competition K models. """"

The link to his site is no longer what it used to be. Click bait ?

Head Bolts 45 55 65 final ftlbs w threads lubed. Check Valve Clearance @TDC Comp or Firing Stroke, specs are listed in the "History" here for all street Ks. If you have clearance but no compression you either have stuck valves, bad seats, or Holy Pistons... Erik K
