There’s a YouTube of the old TV series Highway Patrol, episode #85 titled “ Motorcycle “.
Features the bad guys robbing low value targets while riding a Panhead and a K Model .
It’s from 1956 . I couldn’t really tell if it was a K or KH. It’s worth a look. Probably the most amount of footage of a new K Model running around I’ve ever seen.
10-4

Watch the video Here

Doesn't have the extra tank strips, so it must be a KH. I think it's got the bullet taillight, so 1954 or 1955?

What do you see?

I say 54 KH-as I recall the ‘55 had the larger V tank emblem. Way back in time I had a’55 with the big V metal emblem.Hard to tell, but the paint seemed to be black- or at least it was the same shade as the black on the police cars.
It also looked like it was filmed on Mulholland around Topanga above Woodland Hills.

It seems to verify the robot question that they always start on the first kick .

You are correct! They picked the BEST year for the show.

Magneto Sportsters always do that. K's never do. ;--)

Not a Panhead expert, but it looks like it might be a 1951 EL. First year for the new tank emblem and last year for the hand shift.

You could get all panheads 1948-65 with hand shift. 1952 was the first year for foot shift

The primary cover on the Panhead would seem to indicate a compensating sprocket. I thought those came out in ‘54 or ‘55.

at 10:19, you can clearly see the top of the Panhead front fender. Nice fender tip but NO 50th Anniversary badge. But at 13:18 you can clearly see open end grips, which came out for the 54 model, so perhaps this is a late 53 Panhead?

Also, front fender doesn't have "OHV" name plate and it doesn't have a trumpet horn which was introduced in 1954.

I am pretty sure the K Model is a 1954. It has the fork boots so not 1952 or 1953. It has the one year only 1954 gas tank trim. I also kept looking for the 50 Year Anniversary
Badge but could never make it out. Mutt thinks the Panhead could be 1954. Maybe for some reason they removed the badges for the show????
