Oil Return Line length

Postby GaryM2 » Wed Jan 09, 2019 5:02 pm

Can a few of you K and 1957 Sportster guys help me out with some measurements please?

I'm looking for the length of the cloth covered rubber oil return line hose for early K models (63517-52) with the 90 degree fitting on the engine side, and for later K and 1957 Sportster (63517-54) with the 45 degree fitting on the engine side.

The length dimension needs to include the area under the nut and into the fittings on both ends. Dimensions may be a little different based on which fitting and which oil tank (outlet) were used.

See the pics of the 45 degree fitting and sample hose from an earlier post.

Here is the hose from a ’56 K with the 45 degree fitting photographed on a 1” grid pattern. It is too stiff to be bent straight without breaking and is just under 4.5” with the curvature shown.

Don't know if this was from the 45 or 90 fittings or if it is original hose.

These are actually feed lines not return lines. It looks to me like both Jerry's and wz507's hoses are probably 45 degree lines with a length of about 4 1/2". The left end on wz507's is missing but would come out to about 4 1/2" if there. The hoses in this picture measure 5 1/2" and 5 3/8" using a flexible tape to measure around the curve. I have to assume these are probably 90 degree lines since they are both about 1" longer then the other pictures submitted. You just can't believe how hard these things get. Literally petrified. One slight bend and they are history.
