KR Rear Fender

Postby Noot » Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:04 pm

What did Harley use for a rear fender on a Harley KR (rigid) ?????? I just want to make something that looks kinda correct. I have an XLCH(early) front fender, but the chain clearance crease is right where I don't want it. Maybe I could take an early XLCH rear fender and take-off-the-side-skirts - and use my front fender braces? One particular KR I saw had like a WLA style fender with bigger, flat rivets on top, but it looked almost too wide?

Any suggestions? I appreciate any feedback. Thank You -Noot 8-)

Hi Noot. I'm in a similar situation deciding on a rear for my 42WLA'R' project. I'm thinking the KR one would be a std K cut down. But I don't know for sure. Harley liked using what they had and modifying for other purposes. Like the 55 front fender is same as 54 but they cut the tail off to clear newer chassis. I would think a trimmed K one would work.

Awesome Epinut. Looks pretty close to part of a regular one. Getting ready to trim one for my 42WR style racer. The sides are shot so repurpose time. Erik K

Hi Erik,

Did you ever end up finishing the mods to your fender? Any pics?

Ok I did a little research and surprise! Everyone is korrect. Talked with my buddy Marsh Runyon and he stated that the factory cut down stock rear fenders for swingarm bikes. For rigid frame bike they cut down the front one. Marsh says they run a Triumph front on back. Made me smile because I put a Bonneville front fender and brackets on my 56KHK chopper. Bolts right on backwards. The stays line up with those mystery holes in rear of swingarm. :P
