My 2017 pictures are of an original unrestored 55 bike in the USA, Ca... I had 1980s canadian pictures of it on my site... Hasn't changed one yota since...
So you can trust what it shows... At least proving it is true to itself, if not to the full number of KHRMs made that year (the serials you noted could just show the management had some consecutive numbers set aside for them, it doesn't prove they were made as a batch...)
Don't take restorations as representing anything other than the owner's fancy... Unless backed by period photos of that bike...
Why do you think original/unrestored stuff is starting to be appreciated??? Cause they don't lie and are not wannabees, fake news, call it what you wish...
I will agree with you that the 54 brochure don't show a jiffy stand and don't mention it in the blurb, but you've got to assume they were fitted on customers bikes after the catalog went out...
Number plates: KRM and KHRM were advertised in the race catalogues, not the street catalogues... I'm not an AMA specialist, maybe you needed a street legal bike to race in the desert, or at least a bike with a street legal title, don't know... But I've never seen a shot of them casually gliding in the street...
