What is the correct oil tank decal for the 1957 XL and also the correct one for the 1959 XLH? Thank you in advance, Tom.

The short answers are: None and 61777-58

There's a pretty good discussion over at Patent Decals.

Also, there's an unfinished, poorly organized, and "unlisted" technical article: Nameplates and Transfers

Dave, Thank you for your reply. You always seem to be the answer man. Do you have measurements for the 1959 decal location? roadbum

Sorry, the only measurements I care about are 36-24-36. But like Professor Farnsworth says at the beginning of every Futurama episode, "Good News, Everyone".

Rick Simpson, the decal guy, has reproduced the 61780-61 gas tank decals for 1961 XLCH, and the 61780-62 gas tank decals for 1962 XLCH. Scott Lange, one of the founders of the OSKRG, provided Rick with high-def photos of the originals, and Rick took it from there. So you'll no longer have to accept the crummy, off-color Aermacchi Sprint 61780-61P decals for your restoration.

Good News Everyone - Rick has one set of the 61780-61 gas tank decals left. Contact Rick at 309-230-6521 or [email protected] to snatch up this rare set.

Bad News Everyone - Rick needs a groundswell of enthusiasm before he makes more of both the 1961 and 1962 sets. I called him and now I'm #1 on the waiting list for a set of 1962 decals. If you have a 1961 or 1962 XLCH, give Rick a call (he's got lots of good stories to tell) and get on the waiting list. The sooner you call, the sooner we'll get our decals.

Oh yeah, he's also got the 61777-58 and 62535-61 oil tank decals for sale. Need something else? Call him and ask - he's probably got it!
