Hello!
I was leaving Wauseon this year and found this 1959 XLCH literally as I was about to start my 2200 mile drive home on Saturday. Story is that the original owner gave it to his son at some point who thought it would be cooler flat black and unfortunately caught him AFTER he sanded the tank and painted it...BUT that and being a little on the crusty side, it seems like an intact original example.
The bike runs pretty well, needs a throttle shaft (ordered) and probably a rear tire. The XLR pipes have some hole in the front one just off the head, but so far it's been fun to get my hands on. I sent a bunch pics to Dave Carlton already for his research. Has the birthmark frame tag, double bung tank, but not the one side welded, cloth control cables, late 58 cylinders, matching bellies, original molded spark plug boots, long front fender rib, VIN is 2077.
I am not going to do much except get the electric functional, do the throttle shaft, I've cleaned some of the algae off the chrome and hosed the bike with Kroil. I'm 6' 3" 200 pounds so probably put a KR type seat on it.

Anyway, I can't post pics from my phone but Kurt will when he has a chance.

I think Dr Dick and/or JerryR might have seen the bike there.

Enjoy. Oh and if you have an original paint sparkling turquoise and white tank lemme know...
