XLRTTs use a Linkert DC11.
Later versions used a Tillotson HD5A

You have all of the timing marks aligned among the pinion, cams, etc.: this is correct for cam timing.
The rotor hole should not line up with the notch in the breather tower, this occurs when the TDC mark is centered in the inspection hole.
This is true of all 4 cam engines 1937-76 (W, G, U, K, X).

The factory manual is correct but confusing to understand.

Correct, breather timing and cam timing are 2 separate activities.

Timing of the breather is not done at TDC, but at the timing mark, which is 45 degrees before TDC.

Nice and clean Dave, shop and the project. I couldn't work any other way.

Thanks Murph. Good to hear from you after many years!

I received my overhauled magneto from Morris Magneto. Stellar work. I wanted the fattest spark this old mag can provide to aid my aging kicker leg.

Looks great, I've been around. Haven't been doing any resto projects lately just maintaining what's in the shop is a challenge anymore. You know the drill, once they sit for sometime it's a whole ritual you need to go through before you can take them for a ride. Restoration projects sometimes are nice when there somebody elses. :) Keep up the thread.

Moving along. Oil tank and rear fender installed. The top end will be on by the end of the week.
