XLRTTs use a Linkert DC11.
Later versions used a Tillotson HD5A

The rotor hole should not line up with the notch in the breather tower, this occurs when the TDC mark is centered in the inspection hole.
This is true of all 4 cam engines 1937-76 (W, G, U, K, X).
The factory manual is correct but confusing to understand.
