Triple tree differences

Postby Otis » Sat Feb 20, 2021 11:36 am

Can someone explain or steer me to the section on this site to where I can learn the different types of early trees?
Thanks

I don’t believe there is a distinct section dedicated solely to triple trees. You’ll just have to search the forum section of interest for “triple trees” and sift through the results, e.g., search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=triple+trees

Ask "dealinwhls" he knows the rake angle changes that were made in early trees.

Not my strong subject, but are you referring to actually changing the stem angle? Or the offset?

This unfinished page tells part of the story. It's "a long story" and Harley really mucked up the Spare Parts Catalogs. Hopefully, it makes sense.

What in particular do you want to know?

I’m trying to identify the set I have. I don’t need them and want to pass them on. Do the lower and upper trees have differences? I tried to post a picture but the file is too big and I don’t know how to compress it.

If I cropped the picture correctly this is the tree in question.

I'll remember to keep silent next time.

Thank you for the response but my question is the physical difference in the trees as far as years are concerned to be correct.

Hi Doug,
The unmodified lower trees are easy to tell apart. The early trees had a casting ending in -52, the later bottom tree casting ended in 52A. See the picture. I think I will do this in 3 postings so I don't lose everything at once.
