1953 K - polished or raw?

Postby Magneto Sportster » Sat Apr 23, 2022 3:45 pm

On the 1953 K, was there any option to polish the whole cam cover, sprocket cover, and primary cover, or was the only option raw with only the stripe polished?

There were no additional polish options ever mentioned in either the 1953 Enthusiast new model announcement issue or in the 1953 season order blank. Every original picture from back in the day that I have ever seen, of a 1953 K Model, had the natural cast finish with the polished horizontal stripe on the primary, cam and sprocket covers. In 1954 the Ks came with polished primary, cam and sprocket covers. In 1955 as well as 1956 they polished all the covers and the heads.
