Yes it would be best if you have a way to check them for clean before reinstating of course! Don`t know how that all works...Erik

In Philadelphia Pennsylvania we still go by old blue laws where possession is 9/10 of the law. If I can restore the vin numbers I can apply to the court for a warrant on the title then register the motorcycle. If can not restore the vin numbers I can apply for a reconstructed title and stamp or plate the vin on the bike. But I would rather have the original vin. We still go by laws that are over 300 years old.

They look more like a peanut than an egg that's why I thought the bike was a KR. I appreciate your expert advice Thanks Erik.

I believe those are 53KK Cams.

they are not stock k cams.they look more like kr cams with more duration and lift.i just sold a set of the same marked 1234...your heads must have pockets cut out above the valves for higher lift?

Jerry`s right, those are most likely KK cams, same as KHK profile. Loosely based on the 53KR cams. If the intakes lift around .480" no doubt they are. They surely have aggressive duration. Stock K lift is about .450. Chances are you have a 53KK, since the cams and the 1953 right side case. The 53KK cylinders will be cleaned up portwise and have bigger intake valves if original. So possibly someone blew out the left case and replaced with a loose 52 one, and never got aroind to pitting the 53KK # on it. However at this point I think you should pursue it as a 52 as that is what the left case is with pad. The missing number will be 52K XXXX. The first `X` will be a 1 or a 2. The first 1,000 Ks started serial# with a 1, after that it switched 2 for first number till the end of the approximately 1900 bike run. Yes, head clearance with the valves open must be checked and set if those are not factory heads with engine. The K will scoot nicely with those cams as you must know! Erik

The Cam Set in the 53KK is fairly close to the 53R profile with the reverse acceleration ramps, long duration and high lift. It is also used in the KHK engines. Same as KK profile. The KK cams I have seen are all just numbered 1234. When the KHK came out in 1954 at some point they stamped them KHK. The same Cam Set #25500-53 is used and listed for the 53 KK, 54,55 & 56 KHK. This is listed in the 52-56 Spare Parts Book on page 9. This book has the most references to the rare 1954 KHK over any other book. Erik

Looks like the valves are the WR valve used in the KK. Also looks the ports where modified.

The valves have a low profile like the WR,KR,KK,KHK.
