Cooperative Plating, St Paul MN.

I'd also give a strong nod of approval to ThreeJPlating.

Regardless of where you go, deliver your pile to the plater scrupulously clean from a glass bead blaster and preserved with a light coat of WD-40. Ask for cad and clear - clear chromate final layer significantly enhances longevity of the cad without altering appearance. Don’t rely on the plater to remove any corrosion, stain, paint, previous plating, etc or you will likely be disappointed in the outcome. The plater runs your parts through their plating process - they are not parts cleaners, so clean it to your satisfaction prior to drop off. For example, if you bring in a pile of 100s of spokes/nipples for plating that are skanky corroroded junk, don't expect that someone will spend hours glass beading them for you and that you will receive a pristine product back.

1st submission of above failed due to query answer failure.

I am going to be going through a 56 KHK soon. The bike has a few incorrectly finished parts that I would like to get cad plated or parkerized. I am curious if it is cheaper to get the parts that are on the bike now correctly finished or just go to someplace like Colony to get new, but correctly finished parts.

If you’ve got a glass bead blaster and a means of heating a water bath to 150-180F parkerizing is trivial and inexpensive to do in your garage.

Cad plating is another story. Reputable platers I know of have a minimum lot charge of ~ $180, where the minimum lot charge is assessed for a lot that may contain is little as a handful of fasteners or a much as 80-100 lb of fasteners.

You’ll have to decide how your needs align with the above considerations.

Received the parts back from 3J's plating. Good work and short turn-around for a hundred bucks. Thanks for the referral. Mike

This is just my OCD, OK?
Way back when, a friend dropped off a big pile of spokes and nipples (6/8 gauge for 16" star hub) for chrome.
When it came back, exactly 40 spokes and 40 nipples were missing.
The questions went unanswered, but the answers are:
1. They were stolen
2. By someone with a H-D and 16" wheels
3. Who works there

Make a list of what you give them, ask them to sign for it.
