Head pipe discoloration

I have a set of pipes on a ‘63 XLCH that keep discoloring. Timing, carb , valves ✔️. Within a minute of startup they start turning color . Seems to start at around 165-175F. Both pipes. These were freshly re- chromed when I got them. The yellow polishes off fairly easily. I’m wondering if this is a case of a suboptimal rechrome

I've experienced the same result with rechrome.

Might try the ceramic internal exhaust pipe coating from Eastman or others. Supposed to help discoloration and provide insulation. Going to use it on a reproduction set of pipes that have not been used, yet, on a restoration project on my 54 KH.

I sprayed silica- ceramic high temp paint inside them. No real noticeable results. I’m thinking bad chrome. There’s no way the pipes should turn color at 175F +/-
