Kilo Speedometer

Postby jOe » Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:11 pm

I have a HD kilo Speedometer. The threads for the cable housing collar are finer than the ones on the others I’ve seen ( in miles).
My parts books show miles and kilo Speedometer heads, but only one cable.
Is there a kilo cable ?
Just curious, I’m not planning on using it.

Interesting that the threads are different, but I would expect the gearsets at the wheel would be where you would find a difference. The cable has no effect on the ratio between the wheel and the speedo.

Unless this is a later speedometer ( post 1970 )-and they changed it? It may have nothing to do with KPH. I rechecked my parts books and I’ve only found one cable and housing listed. Everything else about the speedometer seems typical.

No gearsets at any wheel. The gears are in the transmission until '73 and later.
H-D did not use a different cable on early bikes, but later bikes with metric instruments did use others.
What year bike and speedo are you attempting to marry??
