Spark & Throttle Cable Lengths XLCH

Postby cimarroncycleworks » Sat Mar 23, 2024 5:53 pm

I have a customer asking the correct length for the magneto advance cable or coil for a 1967 XLCH. We have a cable with a 42" casing and 60" inner wire. I do know that the mag kill wire is 42" so I'm guessing a 42" cable casing would get to the mag, but that depends on routing.

Thank you in advance for your help!

It would depend on which bend the handlebars are. Buckhorns would require a longer cable than Sport bars.

Good point. I've always advocated 2" more on the wires and control cables for bucks over speedsters but the catalog doesn't differentiate and the last period catalog I have I think is through 1965. The 1954-1981 catalog misses a lot of short run items over the years.

Any idea though if a 42" outer housing with a 60" wire would get it done?
