Tappet adjustment

Hi,

This seems like a silly question but I’ll ask it anyway.

I want to check the tappets on my KR before I start it.

I don’t have the tool to undo the tappet covers so I’m using a pair of multi grips which doesn’t feel right.

My questions are

1) where do I find the right tool?
2) I have the front inlet up but I can’t seem to lift the cover while the valve is down. As I turn the engine over and the valve lifts I can lift the cover up but once the valve comes down the cover comes down and doesn’t want to go up. What am I missing or am I just not pushing up hard enough?

Ok, solved my problem and my next question is where can I buy KR valve covers?
